Multipurpose Synchrotron Radiation is a large research infrastructure designed to increase the localization rate of key materials and components that are highly dependent on foreign countries and to respond quickly to national and social problems such as the spread of COVID-19.

The multi-purpose radiation accelerator to be built this time is a 4th generation prototype, a facility designed to emit 100 times brighter light than the existing 3rd generation (a light source with 100 million times the brightness of the sun).

It is expected to create new values in the science and technology sector through the construction of global radiation accelerator facilities, and to contribute to improving people's livelihoods and creating new growth engines for the nation by creating new industries and preparing high-tech industries.

Department will use Korea's experience and know-how in building radiation accelerators and put in excellent manpower to do its best for a successful construction project.
